Pressurized containers

These containers, when used in a hazardous area are for the most part used for workshops for hot work, and protection of equipment that in itself has no Ex protection, LER rooms, control rooms for various equipment, offices, coffee rooms etc.

These containers (including control system for the container) are if used within EU and EFTA subject to a hazardous area certification according to EN50381. This is an ATEX harmonised standard for transportable ventilated rooms. This is not an IEC standard.

The armament differs depending on protection type and their environmental condition. For zone 1 applications we have type Ex v2, complying with category 2 of ATEX or type v3 for zone 2 applications complying with category 3 of ATEX.

For use on the Norwegian continental shelf the Norsok standards, in particular Norsok Z-015, are applied together with EN 50381. If Maritime approvals are required we can supply according to DNV 2.7-2 Offshore service modules.

These pressurized containers are normally used as temporary office space for workers, and in addition to complying with relevant Ex standards and certifications, human factors has to be considered as people will be located inside for longer periods.

For this reason working environment plays a crucial part of the design. The most commonly used standard for this area is Norsok S-002Working Environment. Factors such as Light conditions, noise and acoustics, HVAC and ergonomics are taken into consideration during the design to ensure that the best possible working environment is obtained with respect to both comfort and safety.
